Yes! Oh my goodness it’s finally happened! A package-free, zero waste grocery store is going to open in Austin, Texas. The store, called In.gredients will encourage customers to bring in their own containers to to pick up food, or provide compostable containers if need be.
This new grocery store is a dream come true for me. My least favorite part about working in grocery stores or even shopping in grocery stores is all of the wasteful packaging: cardboard boxes for cereal, plastic wrapping for bread, air-filled cookie packages, plastic bags. It is all ridiculous and disgusting.
Now, In.gredient seeks to elimate all that with its new business model. Their simple and sane solution to food waste will make organic food that much better. Now they just need some help getting off the ground.
